Why It Moves

Two Oceans, One Gap

Komodo sits in the gap between the Flores Sea and the Indian Ocean. Every tide pushes water through that gap, and the reefs are healthy precisely because of it.

The trade is that timing is everything. Dives are planned to the slack window, and the captain will move a site rather than push a bad tide.

How We Manage It

Diving Safely in Current

Tide Windows

Sites are chosen for the slack, not the schedule.

Down-Currents

Known at Batu Bolong and Castle Rock. Briefed before every dive.

SMB Required

Every diver carries a surface marker buoy.

Small Groups

One divemaster to four divers, always in sight.

Tender Standby

The speed boat follows the group throughout the dive.

Comms

VHF, SSB and walkie talkies between boat and tender.
