ToggleOur Komodo diving cruise on the Pinta Liveaboard truly redefined affordable luxury. This 30-meter traditional wooden phinisi, built in 2021 from beautiful ironwood and teak, felt incredibly stable thanks to its thoughtfully designed superstructure. With dimensions of L 30m x W 6m, it’s a GT83 vessel that somehow manages to feel both spacious and intimate. There are five luxury room selections, accommodating up to 13 adults and 4 children, so finding the perfect spot was easy. From the moment we boarded at Benoa Harbour in Bali, right on schedule between 13:00-15:00 for a 16:00 departure, we knew this trip was going to be something special.
Diving Komodo: Manta Rays and Coral Gardens
We specifically chose the rainy season, December, for our Komodo adventure, and it absolutely paid off. This time of year, between December and February, is famously the best for seeing manta rays in Komodo, and we weren’t disappointed. While the seas can be a bit rougher, the visibility in December and January often reaches over 30 meters, which made for some truly spectacular dives. Batu Bolong, a top Komodo dive site, was a highlight. Its coral gardens were humming with fish life, a vibrant, Instagram-ready spectacle at every turn. We also budgeted for the Komodo National Park fee, which is 300,000 rupiah per person per diving day, a small price to pay for access to such incredible underwater ecosystems.
Pinta Liveaboard: An Instagram-Ready Escape
Beyond the diving, the Pinta itself was a constant source of awe. Every detail, from the polished teak decks to the comfortable lounges, felt designed for both relaxation and capturing those perfect vacation shots. It perfectly blended traditional Indonesian craftsmanship with modern comforts, creating an atmosphere of effortless luxury. The boat’s design is inherently Instagram-ready, making it easy to share the beauty of our journey. From the moment we stepped aboard, the crew made sure every aspect of our experience was seamless. It’s truly an ideal way to explore the wonders of Komodo while enjoying a touch of affordable luxury.
